The Charms of the Channel Islands

Your holiday begins at Southampton airport, where you meet the Tour Manager and catch an early morning flight to Jersey. The largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey is surrounded by crystal clear waters, fringed with golden beaches and steeped in a long, rich history. 

On arrival, we transfer to Jersey's capital, St Helier and step straight into island life with a guided walking tour led by a knowledgeable local expert. St Helier is a fascinating blend of British charm and deep-rooted French heritage, offering a unique cultural identity found nowhere else in the British Isles. Wander through charming streets and discover highlights including the bustling Central Market, the historic Parish Church of St Helier and the bronze statues celebrating Jersey's notable figures at the former Cattle Market. Along the way, indulge in authentic local tastings including traditional Jersey fudge, the famous Black Butter and locally brewed beer.

The rest of your afternoon is free to find lunch, explore St Helier and settle into our hotel overlooking Liberation Square, before our first dinner together at the hotel.

After breakfast, we set out for a full day of exploration across Jersey's diverse landscapes, starting with a visit to a private Regency residence, Seafield House, with its formal gardens featuring rare botanical treasures. We continue to the harbour village of St Aubin and Noirmont Point for panoramic coastal views and the stunning St Brelade's Bay. Marvel at the dramatic coastline of Corbière Lighthouse before enjoying the sweeping sands of St Ouen's Bay.

Set within a converted German bunker overlooking the Atlantic, savour freshly harvested Jersey oysters paired with crisp wine at Faulker Fisheries-an unforgettable culinary moment in a truly atmospheric setting. Journeying east, discover hidden coves and tranquil fishing villages before arriving at Gorey, dominated by the impressive Mont Orgueil Castle.

Finally, we visit La Hougue Bie - one of the world's ten oldest buildings, this Neolithic passage grave dates back over 6,000 years. Explore the ancient ritual chamber, visit the medieval chapel and let yourself be enchanted by a local storyteller who brings myths, legends, and ancient rituals to life, before we return to the hotel for dinner.

A full day at leisure after breakfast allows you to explore Jersey at your own pace today.

You might choose to follow St Helier's mural art trail, showcasing colourful pieces by local street artists - many of which are a short distance from the hotel. History lovers may wish to visit Elizabeth Castle, perched on a tidal island just off the coast. This castle defended Jersey for more than 400 years and you can witness the firing of the musket and cannon during the Midday parade. Further afield, but easily accessible by bus, is the world-famous Gerald Durrell Jersey Zoo. There are also many scenic walking routes to take in the stunning coastal scenery.

With no planned dinner this evening, it's the perfect opportunity to discover the town's famous local produce, from award-winning restaurants to cosy cafés and casual eateries. If you'd prefer to stay and relax at the hotel, you could book in at one of its dining bars.

This morning, we transfer to the harbour after breakfast to board a ferry to Guernsey, enjoying scenic sea views en route. The second largest of the Channel Islands, Guernsey offers a rich blend of natural beauty, maritime history and timeless charm. 

Upon arrival, we head directly to Rocquette Cider for an immersive tour of this family-run cider estate and authentic farm-to-glass cider experience. Discover the island's centuries-old cider-making traditions, dating to the 16th century, and learn how the craft has been revived with modern innovation. Stroll through orchards of over 5,000 apple trees and gain insight into the production process.

After the tour, we transfer to our hotel in the charming harbour town of St Peter Port, where your afternoon is free to explore and find lunch. You might like to visit the 13th-century Castle Cornet on a tidal island that provides great views of Guernsey's east coast. The Victorian Candie Gardens are a stunning place for a stroll and house the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery, which offers insight into the island's history and culture. Return to the hotel this evening for dinner.

Following breakfast, we embark on an exploration of Guernsey's coastline. We pass through Val de Terre, the former garrison of Fort George and Sausmarez Manor, whose subtropical gardens have been recommended by the Royal Horticultural Society. Continuing along the west coast, we take in beaches such as Perelle, Vazon and Cobo Bays. Finally, we visit the stunning Little Chapel - covered entirely in a mosaic of seashells, pebbles and broken china, it is thought to be the smallest chapel in the world.

After time for lunch, we board a ferry for a scenic crossing to the idyllic island of Herm. With no cars and only the gentle sounds of nature, Herm offers a rare sense of tranquillity. Spend your time at leisure exploring its unspoilt landscapes-wander along pristine white-sand beaches, follow quiet coastal paths, or simply pause to absorb the stillness of this remarkable island. Whether strolling along the shoreline or discovering hidden corners, Herm invites a slower pace and a deeper connection to its natural beauty.

Returning to Guernsey by ferry later this afternoon, we transfer back to our hotel where you have some free time to unwind before dinner.

Today begins with a ferry ride to the enchanting Isle of Sark after breakfast. Car-free roads, quirky charm and breathtaking scenery are just some of the things which set it apart from other islands in the region.    

Here, we take a 90-minute sightseeing tour by private horse-drawn carriages, travelling through Sark's narrow lanes and lush landscapes. Along the route, the fascinating history of the Island is brought to life by knowledgeable driver guides with engaging stories and local insights. During the tour, we visit the beautiful La Seigneurie Gardens, set within the historic walled grounds of a 17th-century manor providing colourful displays.

After the tour, enjoy free time to experience the relaxed pace of life in Sark. Walking trails reveal the unspoilt coastline - from secluded creeks and sea caves to quiet coves and rock pools along the untouched coastline. You may wish to discover the Buddhist Rock Carving, created by a Tibetan Monk to mark the Millenium. Later, we return to Guernsey by ferry in time for dinner this evening.

We have enjoyed an unforgettable journey through the Channel Islands, discovering the unique character and charm of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Sark. Though just 150 miles from Southampton, this breathtaking tour has transported us to a world that feels distinctly different - where the mild climate, relaxed pace of life and French-influenced culture set these islands apart from mainland Britain.    

After breakfast, we make our way to the airport for our flight back to Southampton. Landing in the early afternoon, you are free to make your own way home.
